CRM wins bid for goods and materials supplier of China-Laos railway project

Abstract : China Railway Materials Co., Ltd. (CRM) has won the bid for supplying general goods and materials for the Laotian segment of the China-Laos railway project from China's Yunnan Province to Vientiane.

BEIJING, July 17 (Xinhua) -- China Railway Materials Co., Ltd. (CRM) has won the bid for supplying general goods and materials for the Laotian segment of the China-Laos railway project from China's Yunnan Province to Vientiane.

For the next five years, CRM will be responsible for purchase, supply and management of all the nine categories of goods and materials required for this project. The total worth of goods involved shall be more than 2 billion yuan, including 288,000 tons of steel, 820,000 sets of railway castings and 4.47 million tons of water-proof materials.

The services shall include bidding, procurement and supply of materials and equipment; operation and management of the three domestic and overseas materials storage bases; and taking care of logistics for about 490,000 tons of materials.

The segment in Laos starts from Moding–the border port of China and Laos, connects the new Yuxi-Mohan Railway in Yunnan Province in the north and goes south to the terminal in Vientiane, the capital of Laos.

The total length of this railway is 414.5 kilometers, with a designed speed of 160 km/h. The project is expected to be completed in five years, with a total investment outlay of 37.4 billion yuan. This segment of the China-Laos railway is a significant component of the 3,563 kilometer long Pan-Asia Railways.
