SAN FRANCISCO, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Apple Inc. opened Monday its annual gathering of software developers with announcement that Amazon's Prime Video is coming to its Apple TV service.
At a San Jose venue in Northern California, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Tim Cook of Apple told its Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWDC, that Prime Video will be integrated into Apple TV application, or app.
Amazon Video, an Internet video on demand service that is developed and operated by Amazon.com, offers television shows and films for rent or purchase and as part of Amazon's Prime subscription, with selected titles can be viewed exclusively to full Prime or Prime Video members.
In addition, Cook said Apple, headquartered in Cupertino, Northern California, now has 16 million registered software developers worldwide for its consumer electronics, including smartphone known as iPhone, and 3 million of them were added last year. He claimed that this year's WWDC is the largest of the kind for the technology company.
