HANOI, May 24 (Xinhua) -- Cai Mingzhao, president of China's state news agency Xinhua News Agency, signed a cooperation agreement with Nguyen Duc Loi, general director of Vietnam News Agency (VNA) here on Wednesday to deepen cooperation between the two news agencies.
According to the agreement, the two news units will exchange Chinese and English news and photos for free, and further their cooperation in multimedia, video news and social media. Both sides agreed to provide news products on matters of importance that happen in China and Vietnam to ensure the accuracy and comprehensiveness of their reports.
The two news agencies will also provide assistance to their correspondents in each other's country and offer favorable conditions for their long and short-term work.
Visits and exchanges between high-level officials, journalists, editors and staff are promised based on the agreement. Training on reporting, technology and language will also be held for each other's staff.
Xinhua and VNA have always kept a good relationship, said Cai, adding that the two sides can deepen their communication and cooperation in face of challenges brought about by the fast development of internet technology, so as to contribute to pushing forward the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam.
Loi, for his part, hoped that the two news agencies would strengthen their cooperation in staff training and information exchanges.
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit 2017 will be held in Vietnam later this year, and VNA will provide convenience and assistance to Xinhua and its reporters then, Loi said.
