BEIJING, Apr. 27 (Xinhua) -- Zhejiang Narada Power Source Co., Ltd. recently inked a framework agreement with two German companies, Upside Consulting GmbH (UC) and Upside Invest GmbH&Co., KG (UI) on cooperation in power storage projects.
Under the agreement, the three companies would invest about 42 million euros to jointly build, operate, and sell power storage systems acknowledged by German power grid operators for primary frequency control in Saxony and Brandenburg, Germany.
Total capacity of the power storage systems is designed to be 50MW for preliminary stage. Construction of the projects are expected to finish before the end of 2018.
The cooperation would help Narada Power Source to step into mainstream auxiliary power service markets in Europe and U.S.
The German-based Upside is the largest power storage system operator providing frequency control services in Europe. It is a pioneer in applying battery energy storage to primary frequency control.
Upside's combined capacity of developed and in-developing energy storage projects reached more than 290MW, and it owns two power storage stations in Brandenburg. Enditem (Edited by Li Xiaohui, lixh@xinhua.org)
