MADRID, Mar. 16 (Xinhua) -- Huawei Spain on Wednesday confirmed the company would be moving its head office here in order to deal with an expected 50 percent increase in its workforce over the next five years.
The company will move to a new headquarters in the business park Castellana Norte during the second half of 2017.
The change comes as the result of the continued growth of Huawei Spain in the fields of operations, consumers and business partners. In 2017, the company was recognized as among 81 employers in Spain by the organization Top Employers Institute.
Huawei Spain currently has a workforce of over 1,000 and the company estimates it has indirectly created a further 2,000 jobs.
"We are maintaining sustained growth in the Spanish market, which is favoring the generation of employment. In this sense our promise is to increase our workforce by 50 percent during the next five years," said Tony Jin Yong, the chief executive officer of Huawei Spain and Portugal.
He added that the change of headquarters was "another demonstration of Huawei's interest in attracting and developing talents, something that was recognized by the certification organization Top Employers."
