PHNOM PENH, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen met with Huawei Southeast Asia Region President David Sun, exchanging views on further cooperation in information and communication technology (ICT) development in Cambodia, said a news release from Huawei on Monday.

During the talks at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, David Sun praised Cambodia for the rapid development of ICT industry - the essential sector that was importantly contributing to socioeconomic development, the news release said.

"The vision of Huawei is to build a better connected world," he said. adding that "we will continue to invest in Cambodia in order to contribute to economic development, ICT talent training and social welfare activities."

David Sun said with Huawei's support, the first group of 11 Cambodian students had arrived in China and started their training at Huawei, and the second and third groups, selected by the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia and Huawei, would be sent to China for training in 2017 and 2018.

For his part, the prime minister was confident that Huawei could participate in Cambodia's national broadband construction with the latest communication technologies to eliminate the digital divide and to make Cambodian youth's dream come true.
