BEIJING, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese enterprises conducted 2,645 mergers and acquisitions (M&As) home and abroad in Jan-Aug, with total transaction value reaching 2.1371 trillion yuan or 318 billion US dollars, according to China's leading information provider WIND.
In August alone, 230 M&As took place in China, and the total value of the 192 cases that have disclosed transaction value reached 9.072 billion US dollars, according to statistics released by Zero2IPO.
Chinese enterprises conducted 579 outward investment M&As in 2015 with transaction value standing at 54.44 billion US dollars, according to official data by the Ministry of Commerce (MOC).
Chinese enterprises' overseas M&As sped up fast this year with 486 transactions took place in the first eight months, of which transaction value reaching 61.7 billion US dollars, according to the MOC.
Researchers say MOC mainly records investments by large and state-owned Chinese companies, and China's actual total outbound investments may be much larger than the MOC-released ones since most of the overseas M&As are done by private enterprises.
