RUDPAR, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- A large hydropower project constructed by China Gezhouba Group Corporation (CGGC) was completed in Rudbar valley area on September 15.
The main part of the project includes a 153-meter high rock-filled dam with clay core, an open spillway and two 3.6-kilometer long water division systems. Meanwhile, generator sets, ground plants and other hydropower station facilities were built at the same time.
Filling of the dam is expected to be completed at the end of the year, and a 225 mw generator set will start operation at the time. By March 2017, two 225 mw generator sets will be both put into production.
The project was started in April, 2011 with a total investment of 4 billion yuan. The mechanical and electrical equipment sets and metal structure used in the project are all made in China. Moreover, the project provided nearly 2,000 jobs for local people.
Iran's Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian thanked the Chinese company for helping Iran building a project of such high standards during his speech at the completion ceremony. He said Chinese companies not only brought funds, technology, but also actively engage in public welfare causes and undertake social responsibilities.
CGGC general manager assistant Liu Canxue said CGGC entered Iran in 2001, and has cooperated with local companies in varies fields including hydropower, electric power and new energy. (By Yang Qi, Mu Dong, kateqiyang@xinhua.org)
