GUANGZHOU, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- As of November 28, the Guangzhou-Manzhouli-Russia freight trains (Yuemanou) had been operating for three months, delivering 514 containers of goods valued at 180 million yuan, according to statistics released by the Guangzhou Customs.
The cargo trains carry kinds of products, including home appliances, computer components, automobiles parts, and garment.
The trains travel more than 11,000 kilometers for 15 days from Guangzhou, capital of South China’s Guangdong province to Kaluga Oblast in the heart of the European part of Russia via Manzhouli port.
Compared to maritime transport, the block train transport could save as much time as 10 days, although its costs are some 30 percent higher. (By Liu Yong, Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
