BEIJING, July 18 (Xinhua) - The Wail tunnel of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway started construction in Wail, West Java Indonesia, on July 15, 2017.
With a total length of 608 meters, the tunnel is located at the 95th kilometer to the 96th kilometer section of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway. China Railway Group Limited is the contractor to build the tunnel.
The double-track tunnel project is expected to be completed within one year.
With a desgined length of 142 kilometers, Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway, connects Indonesia's capital Jakarta to Bandung, the fourth-largest city of Indonesia.
The high-speed railway is scheduled to start operation in three years. With a designed top speed of 350 kilometers per hour, it will reduce the travel time of Jakarta to Bandung from over three hours to just 40 minutes upon completion. Endtiem (Edited by Yang Qi)
