TIANJIN, March 6 (Xinhua) - Construction on the Silicon Park in Dubai, undertaken by China Construction Sixth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd under China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC), lately was inaugurated.
The Silicon Park is a demonstrative project of the "Belt and Road" Iniatiave and also a flagship project of the initiative to develop Dubai into a smart city.
Covering an area of about 240,000 square meters, the park is to build up 23 multi-story buildings, such as office buildings, hotel, commercial center and gym center, which will become a central business district.
Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority awarded a contract worth 1.2 billion dirhams (about 300 million US dollars) to China State Construction Engineering Corporation (Middle East), a subsidiary of the CSCEC, for the construction of Dubai Silicon Park.
The contract offered a construction period of 27 months, and construction work is expected to finish by the end of 2018. China Construction Sixth Engineering Division Corp., Ltd is the constructor of the project. Enditem (Edited by Li Xiaohui, lixh@xinhua.org)
