On Jan. 9, 2017, installation of the main body of No. 2 molten salt cold storage tank for Morocco Noor II project was completed by Chinese power project contractor - SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Corporation (SEPCOIII).
Lasting for three months, the installation of the No. 2 cold storage tank for molten salt, with a storage capacity of 25608 cubic meters, laid a solid foundation for the following water pressure test as well as salt and oil injection.
Previously on May 8, 2015, SEPCOIII’s parent company - Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) and SENER, a large project engineering and consultancy firm in Spain signed EPC contracts for the Noor II and Noor III independent solar power plant project.
PowerChina and SEPCOIII are responsible for civil work construction, conventional island equipment supply, as well as thermal storage system and peripheral system supply and installation.
SENER is responsible for design, equipment supply and installation of the solar island.
Located in Noor solar park in Quarzazate of southeastern Morococo, the independent solar power plant has three phases, with their respective installed generating capacity at160MW, 200MW and 150MW.
