SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Corporation (SEPCOIII), an EPC contractor for a coal-fired emergency power plant at Qasim Port, Pakistan, has put in place the generator stator for its unit I generating set on Dec. 25, 2016.
Upon completion of the generator stator hoisting, installation of the generating set will thus be kicked off.
Situated in Qasim Port industrial zone, 37 kilometers southeast of Karachi in Pakistan, the power plant will have two 660 MW supercritical units and is expected to generate 9.5 billion kWh of electricity a year from the end of 2017.
It is a prioritized program under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), involving total investment of 2.085 billion U.S. dollars.
Currently, the Qasim Port power plant is operated by a project company set up as a joint venture between Qasim Energy (Hong Kong) Investment Co., Ltd., wholly-owned by PowerChina Resources Limited, which is a controlled subsidiary of PowerChina, and Quatar’s Al Mirqab Capital.
Previously on Dec. 13, 2016, SEPCOIII completed constructing the wall of the No. 2 cooling tower. Prior to that, the No.1 and No. 2 boilers, main power house, chimney and No. 1 cooling tower and other key construction projects have already been completed.
