Zungeru hydropower station, the largest hydropower plant under construction in Nigeria completed river closure on Dec. 15, 2016.
The station, an EPC project of China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. - Sinohydro consortium and valuing 1.294 billion U.S. dollars, is designed to have multiple functions including power generation, flood control, irrigation, aquaculture and shipping.
The plant’s installed generating capacity is 700 megawatts. Its reservoir, as one for over-year storage, boasts total reservoir capacity of 11.4 billion cubic meters.
