BEIJING, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- Qingshan Industrial Park, a Chinese-Indonesian cooperative project in Indonesia, put into operation a stainless steel plant on Dec. 11.
The ITSS smelting project, built by China MCC20 Group Corp. under an EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) contract, is the third phase of the industrial park, which was designed to produce 2 million tonnes of stainless steel slab a year.
Located in Central Sulawesi Province of Indonesia, about two thousand kilometers away from Jakarta, the industrial park covers a land area of some 2,000 hectares. The phase 1 project of the park, including the construction of 300 ktpa ferronickel capacity and supporting power station, went on stream in May 2015, and the phase 2 part, to add 600 ktpa ferronickel capacity, was put into production in March this year.
Tsingshan Holding Group, a ferronickel and stainless steel maker from China’s Zhejiang province, joined hands with Bintangdelapan Group to invest in the nickel smelting project.
Total investment in the industrial park was scheduled to be 4 billion U.S. dollars. Once all the projects in the park go on stream, total output value is expected to hit 3.5 billion U.S. dollars annually. Enditem (Edited by Niu Huizhe, niuhuizhe@xinhua.org)
