BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- The T2 tunnel of a north-south expressway in Algeria, constructed by China State Construction Engineering Corp., opened on Dec. 15, according to the company.
With a total length of 2,425 meters, the tunnel is the longest of its kind in Algeria.
The longitudinal expressway, running more than 1,000 kilometers from the Mediterranean Sea to the hinterland of Central Africa, is a traffic artery of strategic significance to Algeria’s economic development and national security. Enditem (Edited by Li Xiaohui, lixh@xinhua.org)
