BEIJING, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- China’s power project contractor -- SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Corporation (SEPCOIII) started excavation work for the main part of the Myanmar Thaketa power project on Dec. 9, 2016.
SEPCOIII is the EPC contractor for the Thaketa Project, which is to construct a combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station using GE6F.03 gas turbines, with a designed installed capacity of 500 MW, of which 110 MW was scheduled for phase I.
The CCGT power station will be equipped with one gas turbine, one waste heat boiler, and one steam turbine and its construction will last for 22 months.
The project is 10 kilometers away from downtown Yangon. Owner of the project is Union Resources & Engineering Co., Ltd. (UREC).
Once completed, the CCGT power plant, the first project undertaken by SEPCOIII in Myanmar, is likely to help ease the power shortage in related areas. Enditem (Edited by Duan Jing, duanjing@xinhua.org)
