ABIDJAN, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA) announced on Dec. 8 that it had set up its regional headquarters for Central and West Africa in Cote d'Ivoire in a bid to promote energy cooperation between China and Africa.
POWERCHINA started marketing in Cote d'Ivoire since 2008, and has launched a number of key power construction projects in Africa.
Officials with the oil and energy ministry of Cote d'Ivoire expected more hydropower projects to be implemented by Power Construction Corporation of China.
SINOHYDRO Corporation, a subsidiary of POWERCHINA, is undertaking construction of a hydropower plant in Soubre, so far the largest hydropower project in Cote d'Ivoire. It will help Cote d'Ivoire to materialize its national development plan of having 4 million kilowatt installed capacity by 2020.
POWERCHINA has decided to set up six regional headquarters in Central and West Africa, Southeast Africa, Eurasia, Asia Pacific, and America. The Asia Pacific headquarters was launched in Malaysia in September 2016. (Edited by Li Xiaohui, lixh@xinhua.org)
