DHAKA, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- China Gezhouba Group Co., Ltd. (CGGC, 600068) signed a contract with the transportation ministry of Bangladesh on November 1 to build a bus rapid transit (BRT) system from Dhaka International Airport to Gazipur.
The contract includes upgrading the 15.7-kilometer expressway from Dhaka International airport to Gazipur, constructing a 4.5-kilometer viaduct, BRT stations and other facilities. The funds mainly come from Asian Development Bank and French Development Agency.
CGGC stood out from ten competitors which included six Chinese companies.
Yan Rusheng, general manager of CGGC's sixth engineering company said that the BRT system would be the first of its kind in Bangladesh and it will be a model of the BRT system development in the country in the future. (Edited by Yang Qi, kateqiyang@xinhua.org)
