TIRANA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Albania and France will cooperate together in the fight against terrorism, corruption and organized crime, engaging in joint investigative groups, Albanian Interior Minister Sajmir Tahiri said Tuesday.
He made the statements after meeting with the French counterpart Bruno Le Roux, local media reported.
"I informed my French counterpart about our fight against drugs and we also discussed the ways to set up joint investigation groups for organized crime, illegal trafficking and terrorism. What happens in Albania or France is not an isolated case as we face with same challenges and threats," Tahiri said.
Both countries need to increase cooperation and step up efforts to fight such phenomena such as terrorism and organized crime, the two ministers highlighted at a joint press conference.
The French interior minister also tackled the issue of illegal migration, saying though Albanian citizens were welcomed in France, they had to respect the laws of the French state and the law on free visa travel.
Albanian and French Prime Ministers are expected to sign next month agreements on strategic and partnership cooperation, which will further enhance bilateral ties, the French minister said.
