HOHHOT, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) -- North China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has seen its trade with the countries and regions along the Belt and Road grow rapidly since the beginning of the year, according to the local government on Thursday.
In the first seven months of the year, Inner Mongolia registered total imports and exports of 37.26 billion yuan , up 41 percent year on year. To be specific, the Region’s exports with the above countries and regions amounted to 11.86 billion yuan, up 40.8 percent year on year, while the imports amounted to 25.4 billion yuan, up 41.1 percent year on year.
Statistics by Manzhouli Customs show that Inner Mongolian enterprises' trade with those countries and regions in the first seven months involved 3,192 commodity types. The Region’s mechanical and electrical product exports came out on top, with exports of automobiles, high-tech products, steel, agricultural products jumping a lot, while its coal and lignite imports held a large share.
During the period, Inner Mongolia reported the largest imports and exports of 23.59 billion yuan with the Asian countries and regions along the Belt and Road, up 57.4 percent year on year, accounting for 63.3 percent.
As Inner Mongolia's key trade partners, Mongolia registered total imports and exports of 15.63 billion yuan with Inner Mongolia, ranking the first among all the countries and regions along the Belt and Road. Inner Mongolia registered imports and exports of 13.03 billion yuan with Russia, up 23.3 percent year on year.
In the first seven months, private enterprises in Inner Mongolia saw imports and exports of 33.5 billion yuan with the countries and regions along the Belt and Road, up 42.0 percent year on year, accounting for 89.9 percent of Inner Mongolian enterprises' total imports and exports with them.
