BEIJING, July 20 (Xinhua)-- The 2017 China Investment Forum was held from July 17 to 19 in Prague, the Czech Republic, which brought together over 1,000 government officials and enterprises’ representatives from China and the Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries to discuss global investment opportunities in the fields of finance, machinery manufacturing, tourism, and aviation, under the theme of the Belt and Road Initiative and the "16+1 mechanism".
Senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Liu Yunshan and Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka attended the opening ceremony of the forum, which is a significant platform for promoting pragmatic cooperation between China and 16 CEE countries.
Xinhua Silk Road, launched by China Economic Information Service (CEIS) which is affiliated with Xinhua News Agency, made its debut at the forum, sharing its practices and goodwill with participants in the fields of financial cooperation, economic and trade investment, and aviation tourism development under the Belt and Road Initiative, and providing information-sharing platform and consulting services for cooperation and exchanges between China and 16 CEE countries.
The Czech Republic is one of the significant countries along the Belt and Road routes. In the past year, China and the Czech Republic made important progress in trade, finance, education, and medical treatment under the framework of China-CEE 16+1 mechanism. The participation of Xinhua Silk Road will strengthen information exchanges between China and the Czech Republic, in a move to promote trade flow, Li Yuling, deputy general manager with Xinhua Silk Road, said on the tourism and aviation sub-forum.
Li introduced that Xinhua Silk Road, launched in July 2015, is positioned as an information platform, investment adviser and think-tank convergence for all the participants of the Belt and Road construction, aiming to help Chinese companies “go out” and companies outside China “come in”.
In order to boost the development of aviation and tourism industries in Czech-China, Li said, Xinhua Silk Road plans to conduct surveys on tourism and aviation markets in the two countries by taking advantages of its think-tank convergence, to introduce and promote tourism resources and airlines of the two sides.
Ondrej Koc, director for China and Southeast Asia Operations of CzechInvest said that the Czech Republic wants Chinese investors to know more about its projects investment information via the display of Xinhua Silk Road. Aljosa Kiric, mayor’s cabinet in Municipality of Maribor University City of Maribor hopes that Slovenia’s investment environment will be introduced to Chinese investors via Xinhua Silk Road.(Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
