MACAO, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Macao's non-gaming income continued to rise as the proportion of some gaming operators reached two digits percentage in 2016, the special administrative region (SAR)'s major gaming operators said Wednesday.

Macao's six biggest gaming players' representatives said the share of income from their non-gaming businesses in their total revenue will continue to increase, before attending a forum about their non-gaming activities.

Wynn Resorts Macau's Executive Director Linda Chen said the non-gaming revenue increase rates in Macao exceeded those of Las Vegas Strip. Wynn Resorts Macau had 13 percent revenue from non-gaming in 2016, and continued to input resource to this area to attract more tourists.

Sands China President Wong Ying-wai said his company's no-gaming entertainment takes 95 percent of total floor coverage in Sands China's conglomerates in Macao. The growth in non-gaming area would need long time to take place, but the non-gaming income would continue to rise if all operators keep running their conventions and exhibitions.

SJM Executive Director Leong On Kei said non-gaming business has contributed in many ways including the image-shaping of the company and the city.

For example, some famous restaurants will make much money, but they will attract tourists worldwide to Macao, she added.

In Macao's Five-Year Development Plan (2016-2020), the SAR government said that non-gaming revenue of the gaming industry should account for at least nine percent of operators' total income by 2020.
