SUVA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Forty-five percent of all projects registered with Fiji's investment authorities for the first six months of the year 2016 are from China, Fijian Trade Minister Faiyaz Koya said Saturday.
Moreover, most of the projects implemented in Fiji over the last two years are from China, Koya said at a seminar for Chinese investors held in the Fijian capital of Suva, which aims to further boost trade ties between the two countries.
In 2015, Koya said, 41 percent of total investment projects registered in the Pacific island nation were Chinese projects.
Currently, China is Fiji's biggest source of foreign direct investment, and the numbers above reflect Chinese investors' confidence in Fiji's economy in the past few years, the Fijian trade minister underscored, calling on more Chinese investors to join in to benefit from profitable ventures which in turn contribute to Fiji's economy.
