BRUSSELS, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- The culture sector has a great potential in the collaboration between EU and China, said Monica Urian de Sousa, programme manager at the Directorate General Education and Culture of the European Commission.
Culture has always been one of the main topics addressed in the China-EU high-level people-to-people dialogue with very successful results, Urian told Xinhua in a recent interview here, during the second China Arts Festival in the European Union(EU).
The EU culture diplomacy platform can no doubt create more opportunities for the future development of the high level people-to-people dialogue between the EU and China, said the programme manager.
"EU believes that culture can bring the EU external relations a great plus," she said, "Europe is a continent of cultural creativity, It's not only a matter of showing what's best in European culture, it is also a matter of collaboration with artists and cultural operators all over the world, and of course this is of much value for China," she said.
Noting the newly-established EU cultural diplomacy platform, which aims to enhance the EU's engagement with third countries and their citizens, Urian believed that the EU cultural diplomacy can play an important role to stimulate more creativeness between EU and China in the cultural exchanges.
The culture diplomacy platform is going to support the people to people dialogue between the EU and China, and "of course China is very much presented," she explained, "We have lots of ideas going on between the two partners."
Speaking of the possible highlights between EU and China in the cultural sector, Urian told Xinhua that one of the great ideas is the collaboration of city to city dialogue.
"We notice that Chinese cities are very interested to come and talk to European cities to learn from their experiences and vice versa. There is a huge potential in terms of dialogue and urbanization,"stressed Urian. Enditem
