BEJING, July 25 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Land and Resources PRC has recently unveiled an action plan for promoting the Belt and Road Initiative, proposing a series of specific measures in six aspects to optimize the spatial pattern of land development and deepen cooperation in land and resource investigation.
In general, the plan is aimed at enhancing regional land and resource safety as well as service support capability, significantly improving the efficiency of resource optimization and allocation, and sharply increasing green, low-carbon and sustainable development and utilization of resources, while employing decade-long remitting efforts to promote pragmatic cooperation with other countries in resource areas.
The plan sets forth six measures. The first aspect involves optimizing the spatial pattern of land and resource development; boosting connectivity for regional economic growth between China and the rest of the world; strengthening connection with the layout of land space development of countries along the Belt and Road (B&R); and working harder on the development of ecological cooperation mechanism. The second aspect involves deepening cooperation in land and resource investigations, while strengthening coordination in land investigations and monitoring technologies and supporting B&R with basic data. The third aspect involves enhancing cooperation in resource exploitation; stepping up efforts in foreign resources-related cooperation and green prospecting; and further opening up the mineral resources sector. The fourth aspect involves strengthening joint efforts in preventing and controlling disasters while improving co-investigations into disaster management. The fifth aspect involves facilitating cooperation in marine development and enhancing investigations into the fundamental geology of ocean and cooperation in related scientific research. The sixth aspect involves strengthening communication on land and resource policies and establishing a policy communication and coordination mechanism.
