BEIJING, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Liu Hongyang and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, Hernani Coelho, officially signed an agreement on economic and technological cooperation on July 13.
The move is aimed at facilitating cooperation between the two countries in the fields of healthcare and education.
Cooperation between China and Timor-Leste in key fields, such as healthcare and education, not only meets the development needs of Timor-Leste, but is also in line with the objectives of China’s Belt and Road Initiatives, said Ambassador Liu, adding that the collaboration will play an active role in improving the healthcare conditions of Timor-Leste and promoting its educational development.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Timor-Leste, both countries have closely cooperated in various fields and harvested plentiful fruits.
Ambassador Liu also pointed out that China attaches great importance to developing good neighborly relations of friendship and cooperation with Timor-Leste, and would continue to support economic diversification of Timor-Leste in order to bring more benefits to the peoples.
Minister Coelho expressed that the agreement would play a crucial role in promoting the development of healthcare, education and other sectors in Timor-Leste.
