COLOMBO, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka on Monday announced key changes to its cabinet, including the appointment of a new foreign minister and a finance minister.
The president's office said that nine cabinet ministers and a state minister took oaths before President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Accordingly, former Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera took an oath as the new finance minister and media minister while former Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake took an oath as the new foreign minister.
Mahinda Samarasinghe was appointed as the new ports and shipping minister while Arjuna Ranatunga as the new petroleum resources minister.
Former Media Minister Gayantha Karunatillake took an oath as the new lands minister.
This is the first reshuffle of the government which took office in 2015.
