April 07, 2016

Abstract : China's General Administration of Customs (GAC) recently issued an implementing plan to facilitate development of the Belt and Road Initiativein 2016, aiming at strengthening cooperation among customs of relevant countries and regions.

BEIJING, Apr. 6 (Xinhua) -- China's General Administration of Customs (GAC) recently issued an implementing plan to facilitate development of the Belt and Road Initiativein 2016, aiming at strengthening cooperation among customs of relevant countries and regions, connecting routes on the land and the sea while opening up both the east and the west.

According to GAC spokesman Zhang Guangzhi, the plan includes 14 major tasks in three aspects:

The first aspect involves reform and innovation regulation. The GAC will deepen ports opening up and cooperation, further promote mutual recognition of regulations, coordinative law enforcement and information exchange, accelerate integration of national customs, and continue to improve image of China's products in overseas markets.

The second aspect looks into deepening cooperation and sharing benefits. The GAC will encourage cooperation in areas under special customs supervision, enhance practical cooperation with key countries and regions along the Belt and Road, strengthen law enforcement cooperation with customs of relevant countries and regions, continue to reconcile regulation systems under the free trade agreement and upgrade cooperation in authorized economic operation (AEO).

Third, China's Customs will further build consensus and promote the Belt and Road Initiative. An exhibition about the ancient Silk Road will be held to introduce the role it played in trade development.  (Edited by Yang Qi, kateqiyang@xinhua.org)
