State Council urges new-generation information infrastructure

Abstract : China's cabinet, the State Council, issued the Guiding Opinions on Making New Consumption to Play a Leading Role Proactively and Cultivating New Consumption into New Impetus of New Supply at a Faster Pace on Monday.

BEIJING, Nov. 23 (Xinhua) -- China's cabinet, the State Council, issued the Guiding Opinions on Making New Consumption to Play a Leading Role Proactively and Cultivating New Consumption into New Impetus of New Supply at a Faster Pace on Monday.

In the document, the Chinese government urges improving the country's informationinfrastructureto accommodate to changes taking place in consumption structure, model and pattern.

Meanwhile, China will accelerate the construction of a new-generation informationinfrastructurenetwork, increase the popularization and coverage of IPv6-based network, and boost the implementation of the "Speed upgrade and tariff reduction" policy.

The document also says China will boost the construction of cross-region, cross-industry and cross-ownership logistics information platforms; accelerate tourism infrastructure construction; set bottom-line facilities for residential public services; expedite the construction of popular national fitness and culture facilities; speed up the deployment and construction of electric car charging facilities and urban parking lots; and rationally planthe construction of general airports and cruise terminals.   (Edited by Li Xiaoyu, Lixy@xinhua.org)
