BISHKEK, May 3 (Xinhua) -- An aftershock measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale occurred in the territory of Kyrgyzstan, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported Wednesday.
The tremor was also felt in eastern Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan after a 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck the border region of Tajikistan.
The strong earthquake in Tajikistan was accompanied by a series of aftershocks, said the Institute of Seismology of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan.
Kyrgyz Ministry of Emergencies reported that several buildings were damaged as a result of the earthquake. A man was saved by neighbors after the wall of his house collapsed on him.
In addition, cracks were also found in the walls of 10 houses in a village.
