ASTANA, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Kazakhstan on Sunday held the biggest military parade since independence to mark the Defender of the Fatherland Day and the 25th anniversary of the founding of its armed forces.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev attended the opening ceremony of the parade at the Independence Square.
"We have no enemies in any part of the world. We are building friendly and trust-based relations along the entire perimeter with our neighbors," said Nazarbayev.
However, the Kazakh armed forces are under modernization and must be ready to fight terrorism and any possible threat, he said.
About 70 military jets, airplanes, helicopters and over 5,00 servicemen took part in the parade.
