The total installed capacity of State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC) exceeded 313 gigawatts by the end of August.
The corporation has continuously applied its strengths to supporting China's green and low-carbon transition, and advancing coordinated innovation and development of photovoltaic (PV), wind, hydro, nuclear and coal-fired power, as well as the coal and aluminum sectors.
Over the 11 years since its reorganization, the corporation has ramped up its investment in the energy sector. Its installed capacity surpassed 100 GW in the year of reorganization, rose to 200 GW by the end of 2022, and exceeds 300 GW this year. In 2025, it generated more than 740 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity, nearly doubling its output in 2015. It has supplied heating to around 500 million square meters of areas, benefiting 13.6 million people across eight provincial-level regions.

SPIC has advanced high-quality green and low-carbon development. As of the end of August, 74.85 percent of its total installed capacity is from clean energy. Shandong Nuclear Power Company Ltd., a subsidiary of SPIC, has put the Phase I project of Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant and the CAP1400 demonstration project into commercial operation. SPIC has built a number of large-scale energy bases in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the provinces of Qinghai, Sichuan and Guizhou. The Gonghe PV Industrial Park in Qinghai is the world’s largest PV park in terms of installed capacity. The 1.2-GW Phase I project of the Ulanqab Base in Inner Mongolia, the world's largest single-site onshore wind power project, has connected to the grid at full capacity.

SPIC has pushed forward the development of clean and efficient coal-fired power in an orderly manner. Its Inner Mongolia branch has two 660-megawatt ultra-supercritical units at the Baiyinhua Kengkou Power Plant, which have delivered 11.382 billion kWh of electricity to Jiangsu since becoming operational in June 2024.

SPIC has been striving for high-level self-reliance and strength in science and technology, and has developed comprehensive capabilities in third-generation passive nuclear power technology with complete, independent intellectual property rights. China United Gas Turbine Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of SPIC, has independently developed the first prototype of the 300-MW F-class heavy-duty gas turbine, with the machine's technical performance indicators on par with those of the mainstream F-class gas turbines across the world.

SPIC has advanced its industrial upgrading and its shift to new growth drivers. It has tackled the challenges in the integrated development of green power, green hydrogen and green ammonia. Since entering operation in July 2025, the corporation's Da'an Wind-Solar-Powered Green Hydrogen to Ammonia Integration Demonstration Project in Da'an City of Northeast China's Jilin Province has set six world records. The corporation has built a group of high-quality artificial intelligence datasets in multiple areas, such as wind power forecasting, energy storage safety and smart mines, supporting scenario-based applications and AI model development.
Taking the new milestone of 300-GW installed capacity as a new starting point, SPIC will continue to sharpen its ability to guarantee energy security and optimize its business layout, in order to advance the integration of power sources, grids, loads and storage and promote complementary development of wind, solar and hydro power, as well as energy storage.
