Interview: Chinese automakers gain recognition in Europe as technology, cooperation advance, Turin Auto Show chief

September 15, 2026

Abstract : Chinese automakers are bringing new technologies to Italy and Europe and are gaining increasing recognition among local consumers, Andrea Levy, president of the Turin Auto Show, told Xinhua in a recent interview.

TURIN, Italy, Sept. 15 (Xinhua Silk Road) -- Chinese automakers are bringing new technologies to Italy and Europe and are gaining increasing recognition among local consumers, Andrea Levy, president of the Turin Auto Show, told Xinhua in a recent interview.

Cooperation and exchanges between China and Europe in automotive design, technological innovation and the industrial sector will enable both sides to learn from each other and develop better vehicles, he said.

Levy said Chinese automotive brands have become increasingly well known among European consumers in recent years, noting that people are showing growing interest not only in electric vehicles but also in hybrid models and other new powertrain technologies.

"People are now starting to see that more and more technological solutions are coming from China," he said. "We can follow, we can learn and, of course, we can match the two worlds, looking for a better future for all the world."

Levy also highlighted the growing cooperation between Chinese and European automakers, citing partnerships involving Stellantis and Leapmotor.

"I really think that we will see this kind of cooperation more and more," he said, adding that Europe's strengths in automotive design and engineering could complement China's technological development.

Levy said Chinese automakers were also bringing new ideas about vehicle design and the user experience, with greater attention to comfort, entertainment and safety.
