Chengdu, Italy explore new cooperation at Milan tech matchmaking event

September 08, 2026

Abstract : More than 40 government institutions, research organizations and enterprises from China and Italy gathered Monday at the Chengdu-Italy Scientific and Technological Achievements Matchmaking Event to explore innovation-driven cooperation.

MILAN, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- More than 40 government institutions, research organizations and enterprises from China and Italy gathered Monday at the Chengdu-Italy Scientific and Technological Achievements Matchmaking Event to explore innovation-driven cooperation.

At the event, Netval, an Italian association, introduced the Knowledge Share Platform, an innovation matchmaking platform designed to connect innovation demand with innovation supply.

"In this case, Knowledge Share could be very helpful for Chengdu's innovation ecosystem as a tool for research valorization," said Federico Novembrini, head of the Knowledge Share project at Netval. He said the platform enables investors and entrepreneurs to access information on entrepreneurial projects, patented technologies and expertise from the research ecosystem.

Cooperation agreements were signed between companies of Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, and their Italian counterparts.

"We have signed a cooperation arrangement with our Italian partner on a special-purpose robot. We will focus on product research and development, while they will be responsible for business expansion," said Sun Pihong, chairman of Chengdu Skysoft Information Technology Co., Ltd. He said the AI-enabled robot is designed mainly for engineering projects and emergency rescue operations and has broad application prospects in Italy.

"This event has provided us with an excellent platform to engage in face-to-face B2B exchanges with Italian companies," said Wen Haiyan, general manager of Sichuan Anaji Electric Power Technology Co., Ltd. She said her company also established cooperation with an Italian partner during the event and plans to develop a mobile solar-powered electricity generation device for the Italian market, where abundant sunshine and high electricity costs create strong demand.

The event was organized by the Science and Technology Bureau of Chengdu, with the Tianfu International Technology Transformation Center serving as the executive co-organizer. It was supported by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the China-Italy Chamber of Commerce.
