Booming cultural exchanges between China, Egypt

BEIJING, Sept. 3 (Xinhua) -- China and Egypt, both ancient civilizations with long histories and splendid cultures, have learned from each other and prospered together for thousands of years.

More than 2,000 years ago, China and Egypt were connected by the ancient Silk Road, along which not only porcelain and glassware, but also knowledge and ideas, flowed between the two civilizations.

The two countries have witnessed close and growing cooperation in archaeology, with a number of joint archaeological projects in recent years. Joint archaeological excavations in Luxor and Saqqara, and exhibitions of Egyptian civilization in China have brought the histories and cultures of the two ancient civilizations closer to their peoples. Such exchanges have given the bilateral relationship a deeper human foundation.
