While introducing development strategies of their countries, ambassadors from five African nations gathered recently in Hohhot, capital of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to bolster inter-regional communication amid growing China-Africa cooperation.
From August 11 to 14, the five diplomats from Mauritania, Malawi, Kenya, Mozambique and Nigeria took part in the 2026 Lecture Tour by Ambassadors from African Countries · Inner Mongolia held in Hohhot.
The event, organized by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the foreign affairs offices of the people's governments of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Hohhot City, sought to explore new pathways of China-Africa inter-regional cooperation.
Debuting in the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges, the lecture tour saw the ambassadors expound agricultural resources, infrastructure needs, market space and key fields of potential cooperation to representatives from Hohhot businesses in attendance.
In Yili Modern Intelligent Health Valley, a pivotal dairy-centric smart manufacturing, innovation, tourism and health program in Hohhot, they toured different zones altogether showcasing the entire process "from a blade of grass to a cup of milk".
During their journey, the ambassadors said what Africa focuses on currently is not only product purchase, but related cold chain systems, grass seed cultivation, and pasture management as well.
As they believed, advanced practices of Hohhot in intelligent dairy manufacturing and industrial ecology provide reference-worthy models for Africa to press ahead with agricultural modernization.
At the M·Grass Seed Industry Center also in Hohhot, they took note of local paradigms in desertification prevention and control and the construction of indigenous plant germplasm resource bank.
Techniques and technologies in ecological restoration in Hohhot are highly aligned with the demand for treating the vast arid and semi-arid regions in Africa, said the ambassadors, lauding the nature-based solutions of Hohhot as growth drivers that can be replicated in African countries.
During their trip, they also visited the Hohhot area of the China (Inner Mongolia) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the Chilechuan Grassland, a local model village for rural vitalization and the municipal urban planning exhibition hall.

From ecological civilization to low-altitude economy, rural vitalization and long-term urban planning, Hohhot is responding to the African pursuit of a modernization drive with a series of sensible, replicable and applicable Chinese solutions.
