In Jiangxi Province, a group of international students from 11 countries toured Yichun recently to experience firsthand its diverse natural and cultural heritage that enabled them to better understand the locality.
During their 3-day trip from July 15-17, they walked into the Mingyue Mountain scenic area of Yichun, Zhangshu City under its jurisdiction and Fengxin County also in Yichun to try hot springs, traditional Chinese diagnosis and treatment, and bamboo handicrafts.
When entering Shuikou Village of Wentang Town in the Mingyue Mountain scenic area, these youths from Russia, Pakistan, Vietnam, Türkiye, Morocco, etc. were particularly impressed by the local selenium-rich hot spring water.
Standing beside an ancient well in Shuikou Village, Ali Akhtar, a Pakistani student of Nanchang University, marveled at the uniqueness of local hot spring water as it is not only potable, but also suitable for bathing.
It is thus unsurprising to see so many local seniors with radiant faces as selenium matters so much for the human immune system, added Ali Akhtar.
In Zhangshu City, better known as the capital of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), Banjade Netra Prasad from Nepal visited the local TCM museum together with his foreign and Chinese classmates from Nanchang University.

After an in-person experience of moxibustion, he was shocked by the rich but rigorous traditional Chinese medical theories and corresponding diagnosis and treatment as well.
In Fengxin, a county of Yichun famous for its bamboo wares, the international students observed the entire process of how bamboos are fully exploited to make flooring, furniture and handicrafts with hardly any waste left.
Fatima Humna from Pakistan said both the ancient Chinese sci-tech book "Heavenly Creations" written by Ming Dynasty scientist Song Yingxing, a native of Yichun, and the modern bamboo industry of Fengxin embody the traditional Chinese wisdom of "making the most of everything that the nature offers."
Generally, Yichun is a city that can let people slow down to stumble upon the picturesque scenery and lively city vibe, said Borshchevskyi Illia from Ukraine.
