Big data expo in China to showcase latest computing power, AI innovations

July 28, 2026

Abstract : More than 40 new achievements will be unveiled at the China International Big Data Industry Expo 2026, in areas that include the coordinated development of computing power and electricity, data circulation and generative artificial intelligence (AI), a senior data official said Tuesday.

BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- More than 40 new achievements will be unveiled at the China International Big Data Industry Expo 2026, in areas that include the coordinated development of computing power and electricity, data circulation and generative artificial intelligence (AI), a senior data official said Tuesday.

Yu Ying, deputy director of the National Data Administration (NDA), said the achievements will be released by leading companies and industry associations during the expo, which opens on August 28 in Guiyang, southwest China's Guizhou Province.

The expo will feature more than 300 exhibitors and focus on themes from computing infrastructure to data supply.

The NDA will also release a set of industry standards and collections of exemplary practices during the event. In addition, there will be more than 20 industry forums on topics including high-quality datasets and international cooperation in the digital economy, as well as seven innovation competitions and a series of business matchmaking events.

China has made steady progress in strengthening its data infrastructure and institutional framework, Yu said.

The country's intelligent computing capacity has reached 2.4 million PFlops, with the eight national computing hubs accounting for more than 80 percent of the total. As of June, China had built more than 120,000 high-quality datasets with a combined volume exceeding 1,565 petabytes.

The NDA will continue deepening market-oriented reforms for data elements and accelerate efforts to unlock the value of data resources, Yu said.
