BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) -- China is now a major trading partner for over 160 countries and regions, with increasingly diversified imports, a customs official said Wednesday.

Wang Jun, deputy head of the General Administration of Customs, cited durian imports as an example at a press conference, noting that since 2022, China has approved durian imports from five countries, including Vietnam, Malaysia and Laos. China's durian imports reached 1.87 million tonnes in 2025, twice as much as in 2022.

"People can now find durians everywhere in local fruit stores -- more choices and better prices," Wang said.

During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), China will continue to expand imports to meet diverse consumer demand, he added.

While ensuring safety, customs authorities will keep improving quarantine procedure for agricultural and food products, diversify import sources, streamline customs clearance, reduce logistics costs, Wang said.

Measures will also be adopted to steadily enhance the shopping experience for inbound tourists, such as further streamlining departure tax refund services, Wang said.
