Chinese medical team provides free healthcare services at Tanzanian orphanage

July 21, 2026

Abstract : The 28th batch of the Chinese medical team to the Tanzanian mainland has provided free medical consultations, health screening, and public health education for children at an orphanage in Dar es Salaam.

DAR ES SALAAM, July 20 (Xinhua) -- The 28th batch of the Chinese medical team to the Tanzanian mainland has provided free medical consultations, health screening, and public health education for children at an orphanage in Dar es Salaam.

During the event on Sunday, the Chinese medical team, together with China Communications Construction Company, also donated school supplies and commonly used medicines to the orphanage.

Liu Jia, head of the medical team, said the event was part of China's "100 Medical Teams in 1,000 Villages" program, which aims to bring quality healthcare services to local communities.

Doctors from more than 10 specialties, including cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, pediatrics, anesthesiology, orthopedics and otolaryngology, participated in the outreach activity, providing medical services to more than 100 children and teachers, Liu noted.

Saadati Suleiman Pangani, the community leader, described the outreach as "a special and precious gift" for the children.

He expressed appreciation for the Chinese medical team's services and its long-term support for Tanzania's education and healthcare sectors, hoping that similar exchange activities would continue in the future.

Liu said China and Tanzania enjoy a long-standing friendship, adding that safeguarding the health of local children is an important mission of the Chinese medical team.
