China, South Sudan reaffirm enduring ties as CPC marks 105th anniversary

July 08, 2026

Abstract : The Chinese Embassy in South Sudan on Tuesday marked the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) with a symposium celebrating both the party's historic achievements and the deepening bilateral relationship between China and South Sudan.

JUBA, July 7 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Embassy in South Sudan on Tuesday marked the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) with a symposium celebrating both the party's historic achievements and the deepening bilateral relationship between China and South Sudan.

The event was attended by Agnes Oswaha, undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan Ma Qiang, as well as prominent Chinese and South Sudanese experts, scholars and senior media professionals.

Speaking at the event, Oswaha said China has demonstrated that true partnership begins with respecting the sovereignty of nations, listening to their development priorities, and working together to translate aspirations into practical results.

"The friendship between China and South Sudan is not defined solely by diplomatic exchanges or signed agreements. It is a relationship built on mutual respect, trust, solidarity, and a shared belief that development is best achieved through partnership, dialogue and cooperation," she said.

Oswaha said China has, over the years, supported South Sudan's energy, education, healthcare, capacity-building and peace initiatives.

Sun Jisheng, vice president of China Foreign Affairs University, said that the four global initiatives proposed by China -- the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative -- are critical to addressing today's global challenges.

Sun said the world urgently needs greater cooperation and coordination to build a community with a shared future for humanity.

"Countries are equal and, more importantly, interconnected and interdependent. The world has become a global village. On the one hand, although we still face many global challenges and problems, we can also see that the world needs new ideas, a new vision, concrete actions and new policy directions," she said.

Melha Rout Biel, a scholar at the Juba-based Institute for Strategic and Policy Studies, said the CPC's historic achievements would inspire African countries to work harder to improve the well-being of their people.

Biel said the CPC has successfully led China into a new era of prosperity, lifted the Chinese people out of absolute poverty, and boosted their confidence.

She added that China's development experience demonstrates that developing countries can achieve remarkable progress through hard work, sound policies and a strong focus on national development, offering valuable lessons for African countries.
