Bulgarian deputy FM calls for boosting China-CEEC cooperation

June 24, 2026

Abstract : Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Christo Polendakov on Tuesday called for deepening the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC).

SOFIA, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Christo Polendakov on Tuesday called for deepening the cooperation between China and Central and Eastern European Countries (CEEC).

The China-CEEC cooperation mechanism has gone a long way since its inception in 2012, accommodating changes occurring on the international arena, Polendakov said in written remarks to the China-CEEC Global Partnership Center Conference and "China-CEEC Cooperation in the New Era" Symposium held in Sofia on Tuesday.

The development of balanced and reciprocal relations between China and CEEC has been of mutual interest, he said.

"Maintaining a robust partnership with China to explore potential in the fields of trade, investment, digital and transport connectivity, green energy, resilience of supply and value chains, to mention just a few, is of paramount importance, in order to unlock feasible opportunities for growth," he added.

For her part, Chinese Ambassador to Bulgaria Dai Qingli said China-CEEC cooperation stems from the voluntary participation and mutual needs of China and CEEC countries, fully adhering to market rules and EU standards.

Dai said that in the coming months, China plans to actively promote ministerial-level exchanges and cooperation with CEEC in areas such as customs, innovation, and tourism, and further explore the cooperation potential in emerging fields to expand the China-CEEC cooperation.
