Every year around the Dragon Boat Festival, villagers gather to race after dark. The event carries deep cultural meaning and serves as a prayer for good harvests and well-being.

FUZHOU, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The nighttime dragon boat race in Sanxi Village of Changle District, Fuzhou, capital of southeast China's Fujian Province, is a time-honored tradition. Every year around the Dragon Boat Festival, villagers gather to race after dark. The event carries deep cultural meaning and serves as a prayer for good harvests and well-being.
