May 19, 2026

Abstract : A photography and tourism event highlighting China's landscapes, culture and technological development was held in Kuwait on Monday ahead of the 16th China Tourism Day.

KUWAIT CITY, May 18 (Xinhua) -- A photography and tourism event highlighting China's landscapes, culture and technological development was held in Kuwait on Monday ahead of the 16th China Tourism Day.

The event, titled "China Through Your Lens -- Photography Exhibition & Travel Stories," was jointly organized by the Kuwait China Cultural Center and the Kuwait Photography Society. Nearly 100 people attended, including photographers, tourism professionals, cultural figures and media representatives.

The program featured photo exhibitions, travel presentations and personal stories from visitors to China. Organizers said the event aimed to promote cultural and tourism exchanges between China and Kuwait.

The exhibition featured photos of China's natural scenery, rural and urban life, as well as a special collection highlighting modern life and technological progress in the country.

Kuwait Photography Society Chairperson Suad Alhammar shared her experiences photographing in China and discussed the stories behind her images.

"The beauty of China is beyond words," Alhammar said.

Liu Jinhong, director of the China Cultural Center in Kuwait, said the event was intended to help Kuwaiti audiences gain a deeper understanding of China through photography and cultural exchange.

"In addition to natural scenery, history and cultural traditions, this exhibition also includes works reflecting China's modern life and technological development," Liu said.

China Tourism Day is celebrated annually on May 19. Established by China's State Council in 2011, the occasion promotes travel awareness, cultural heritage and the country's tourism industry through nationwide events and incentives.
