In east China coastal city Qingdao, local grid operator Qingdao Power Supply Company is endeavoring to enable development of China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA) via resilient services.
The SCODA, an energetic global economic and trade cooperation platform whose extensive logistic network integrates port, airport, highway, and railway hub services, is a high-demanding power user there.
To ensure quality power services, Qingdao Power Supply Company built in advance regional grids, put into operation a 220-kV substation, and completed a 110-kV power transmission and transformation project to enhance local power supply reliability in recent years.
For key venues such as large conference sites of SCODA, multiple power sources including standby ones were established for these facilities to further improve the reliability of power supply.
For instance, venues for the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference and the 2025 SCO International Investment and Trade Expo both held in July 2025 were typical examples of the type.
The company put in place a "1+4" guarantee system featuring the "main power source+emergency power vehicles"-based power supply setting to guarantee steady power supply for the two events.
Other advanced technology-based measures were also adopted, such as the drone-based power line patrols and application of the 5G+fiber optic longitudinal differential protection technology to ensure flicker-free power supply for these activities.
Elsewhere in Qingdao, the company's one-stop power services and "power butler" arrangements helped corporate power users with tailored energy consumption solutions and "point-to-point" direct connections with surrounding new energy power sources via the "source-grid-load" integration.
Catering to green energy consumption needs of the local corporate power users such as Haier COSMOPlat Industrial Internet Ecopark, such precise power services contribute to channeling green vitality into the SCODA.
To enable greener and low-carbon development of SCODA, Qingdao Power Supply Company, a subsidiary of State Grid Shandong Electric Power Co., Ltd., is also expediting new type of power systems construction there.
From grids upgrading to operation of zero-carbon smart power supply stations and new energy charging facilities, the company is keeping pace with the high-quality development of SCODA through constant service optimization.
