BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- President of Xinhua News Agency Fu Hua met with Egyptian Ambassador to China Khaled Nazmy in Beijing on Friday.
Fu said China and Egypt, both ancient civilizations and important countries of the Global South, are significant forces in maintaining peace and stability in the world today.
Noting this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt, Fu said Xinhua is willing to contribute more media and think tank strength to deepening China-Egypt relations.
He called on both sides to expand media and think tank cooperation, share experiences in the development of the Global South, and seek new opportunities for practical cooperation between China and Egypt.
Nazmy said the media plays a vital role in enhancing communication and understanding between the two peoples, adding that the Egyptian side is willing to join hands with Xinhua to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, and facilitate the two ancient civilizations of Egypt and China to continue radiating new vitality.
