The "Outstanding ESG Cases in Central Asia" solicitation campaign has been officially launched recently. Co-organized by the China Economic Information Service (CEIS) under Xinhua News Agency and the BRI International Green Development Coalition (BRIGC), the campaign is guided by the United Nations' ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) framework, with the core goal of promoting the sustainable socio-economic development of Central Asia.
As the place where the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was first proposed, Central Asia has garnered widespread attention for its green transition and sustainable development agenda.
The campaign will showcase exemplary practices in ESG principle implementation across Central Asia, promote outstanding cases and innovative models in environmental protection, social responsibility, and corporate governance, and establish regional ESG benchmarks. It will also advance the dissemination and development of ESG concepts in the region, foster international cooperation to accelerate local green transformation and sustainable development, and jointly build a framework for the harmonious coexistence of economy, society and ecology.
Enterprises and institutions with distinguished practices in any of the following fields -- environmental protection, social responsibility, corporate governance, or innovation-driven sustainable development -- are hereby invited to submit applications for the "Outstanding ESG Cases in Central Asia." Application forms and detailed requirements are provided in the attachment, and the deadline for submissions is April 20, 2026.
Leveraging extensive international cooperation resources, the BRIGC will assemble a professional expert panel to ensure the professionalism, authority and fairness of the selection process and final results.
The organizers will hold a themed event in mid-July in Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, to release the Collection of Outstanding ESG Practices in Central Asia and hold expert discussions on ESG-related topics of concern to enterprises. The event will be undertaken by the General Chamber of Commerce of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan and supported by KPMG Kazakhstan.
The Belt and Road Portal and Xinhua Silk Road will provide full coverage of the event. Outcomes of the event will also be widely disseminated through mainstream media in Central Asia and internationally influential social media platforms.
Relevant enterprises and institutions are encouraged to actively participate in the campaign, to advance the implementation and deepening of ESG principles in Central Asia with outstanding practical achievements, and contribute to the high-quality development of the Green Silk Road.
