Foreign trade of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region soars over 12 years of coordinated development

Abstract : Foreign trade of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in north China has surged 25.7 percent since the launch of a coordinated development strategy 12 years ago, customs statistics showed on Thursday.

TIANJIN, Feb. 26 (Xinhua) -- Foreign trade of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in north China has surged 25.7 percent since the launch of a coordinated development strategy 12 years ago, customs statistics showed on Thursday.

The region's total trade value rose from 3.74 trillion yuan (about 540.2 billion U.S. dollars) in 2014 to 4.7 trillion yuan in 2025, demonstrating robust growth driven by regional integration.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), the region's annual imports and exports consistently exceeded 4 trillion yuan. Exports hit a record high of 1.45 trillion yuan in 2025, up 56.9 percent from 2014, with auto exports soaring sixfold to 90.97 billion yuan.

Private enterprises saw their import and export value skyrocket by 167.8 percent from 2014 to 2025.

The region's trade with the EU and ASEAN has grown significantly since 2014, while trade with Belt and Road Initiative partner countries has expanded 29 percent.

The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region covers a total area of 216,000 square kilometers and has a permanent resident population of over 100 million.
