UNHCR hails partnership with Chinese company for supporting displaced children

December 18, 2025

Abstract : The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the UN Refugee Agency, on Wednesday welcomed a renewed commitment from a Chinese company to support displaced children worldwide.

GENEVA, Dec. 17 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the UN Refugee Agency, on Wednesday welcomed a renewed commitment from a Chinese company to support displaced children worldwide.

UNHCR said the "Moving for Change" partnership with ANTA Group, a Chinese sportswear company, has provided education- and sport-based support to more than 300,000 displaced children and youth across Africa over the past three years.

Speaking at the 2025 Global Refugee Forum Progress Review in Geneva, held from Dec. 15 to 17, Christina Li, vice president of ANTA Group, said that from 2023 to 2025 the company provided 1.5 million U.S. dollars in financial support, along with 1.2 million pieces of sporting apparel and equipment, to displaced children and youth in Burundi, Kenya, and Ethiopia.

ANTA pledged to maintain a similar level of support over the next three years, continuing efforts to improve the safety, education, and well-being of displaced children through learning and play.

UNHCR noted that ANTA's contributions have supported its Sports for Protection programming and the Primary Impact education initiative, helping to keep refugee classrooms open during crises by funding teachers, providing learning materials, and enabling children to start, stay, and succeed in school.
